Dina Mande is a director who
uses her multi-disciplinary background in typography,
visual effects, animation and filmmaking to bring the discriminating
eye of a designer
and heart of a storyteller to each project.
She also a design and animation director, designing brands and titles
for folks like Disney,
Warner Bros, Universal Pictures, Fox, FX Network,
Discovery Channel, and A&E on feature films and television.
With
the goal of attempting the title of “busiest girl on earth” she
founded and created of Group101Spots, a collective to nurture and support
new commercial directors. Hosted and mentored by the top agency creatives and
commercial production companies, these directors band together to build a reel,
share resources, experiment, make contacts and improve their craft in a challenging
and creative community.
Dina is also a co-creator of Group101Films,
a filmmaking collective of Hollywood entertainment industry professionals
which challenges
each member to produce
a short film every 30 days. With Group101, Dina has produced over
20 short films, including "A Dog Story” which was an official selection
of the 2003 Toronto Film Festival. Her short HOTrTHnHELL was featured on AMC
TV Halloween Night in Short Screamers hosted by Clive Barker. Dina's newest short,
Small Change has traveled the festival circuit, playing from Singapore to Anchorage
to Hollywood.
Group101Films has exploded: over
500 filmmakers have embraced the "no
budget,
no studio, no problem" credo to shoot a short a month for six months and Group101
filmmakers have produced over 2,500 short films in four years, making Group101
the largest short form entertainment producer anywhere. Group101 chapters have
sprung up in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, San Diego, Dallas, Las Vegas,
London, Copenhagen, Winnipeg and Karachi, Pakistan. Group101Films has been featured
in the Hollywood Reporter, LA Weekly, Shoot, Moviemaker magazine and on AMC TV.
